WILES, SR.JANUARY 31, 1939 - March 7, 2009ANDERSON, SC ' Mr. Jerry Henry Wiles, Sr., age 70, of 1023 New Hope Road, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Iva, SC on January 31, 1939, he was a son of the late Ernest Victor 'E.V.' Wiles and Lula Mintoria 'Minnie' Elgin Wiles. Mr. Wiles was a successful Businessman working in the mobile home industries for many years. He was a United States Navy Veteran specializing in Naval Aviation. Mr. Wiles served on the Anderson Airport Commission for five years having also held a Pilots License for many years. He was a Reserve Police Officer and Volunteer Pilot for the many state and local agencies. In earlier years, Mr. Wiles ran for the Office of Anderson County Sheriff and served Anderson County in many volunteer capacities. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was recently attending Gethsemane Baptist Temple. Following Mr. Wiles' retirement, he could be seen tending to his garden and selling watermelons near his home.Survivors include his wife, Eula Lucille Moon Wiles, of the home; his children: Suzette Marie Hand and husband, Allen Keith Hand of Panama City Beach, FL, Victor Lamar Wiles and wife, Dee Ann Wiles of Anderson, Willard 'Willie' Wiles and wife, Donna Wiles of Anderson, and Jerry 'J.R.' Wiles and wife, Susan Wiles of Anderson, and Gregory T. Wiles, Sr. and wife, Deena Wiles of Anderson; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild; Also surviving are his brothers: Hoyt Wiles and wife, Ruby Wiles of Iva, Robert Wiles and wife, Betty Wiles of Starr, Clyde Wiles and wife Lille Belle of Starr; sisters: Lula Mae Wiles Moon and husband, Henry Moon of Starr, Irene Wiles Dickerson and husband, T.C. Dickerson of Starr, Alice Wiles Burdette and husband, Orion Burdette of Iva, Sara Wiles Mauldin and husband, Johnny Mauldin of Starr, and Linda Wiles Copeland and husband, Ralph Copeland of Anderson.PAGE TWO JERRY WILES, SRIn addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers: Horace Wiles and Ralph Wiles; sisters: Mary Faye Wiles and Phyllis Wiles Wells; and his granddaughter, Dana Sheree Wiles.The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, March 9, 2009, at Gethsemane Baptist Temple, conducted by the Reverend Sam Duncan and the Reverend Mike Wiles.
