Jerry Travis Wilson, age 75, of 206 Hampton Street, Iva, entered his Heavenly home on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018, upon his death at St. Frances Hospital in Greenville. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 1, 1943, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Travis Melvin Wilson and the late Ruth Fleming Wilson. For fifty-six years Jerry was the loving and devoted husband of Mae Yon Wilson of the home. He was a graduate of Crescent High School in the Class of 1962. He was retired from Electric City Printing Company, and in prior employment he was a loom fixer in the area textile mills. Mr. Wilson and his wife, Mae, were charter members of Calvary Baptist Temple where he served as a Deacon. Later, he was a faithful member of the Mountain Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his beloved wife, Mae, Mr. Wilson is survived by a son, Bryan Wilson and his wife, Joanne, of Anderson; a daughter, Cindy Sawyer and her husband Steve, of Anderson; also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Wilson. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry Wilson will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at the Mountain Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Billy Whitfield and Rev. Broadus Moody officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
