GRIFFINMARCH 19, 1922 - April 11, 2009 ANDERSON, SC ' Mr. Jesse Lee Griffin, age 87, of 2519 Highway 29 North, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at his residence. Born in Newville, AL on March 19, 1922, he was a son of the late William Jesse Griffin and Daisy Grantham Griffin. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II ' during his tenure, he was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He was an lifelong entrepreneur having owned and operated Hillview Egg Ranch, Dixie Candy Company, and Peter Piper Ice Cream Trucks to name a few. Mr. Griffin was a member of Eureka Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Imajean Hanvey Griffin, of the home; children: James Lee Griffin of Suwannee, GA, Gary Dean Griffin and wife, Lisa Griffin, of Salem, SC, and Teresa Griffin Castrinos and husband, James John Castrinos, of Hilton Head, SC; grandchildren: Jim Griffin, Virginia Griffin, Stephanie Phillips, Jesse Castrinos and Joshua Castrinos; great grandchildren: Jake Griffin, Raleigh Phillips, Abby Moore, Ellie Moore, and Connor Phillips; and longtime friend and caregiver, Peggy King. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James William Griffin and two sisters, Mary Alice Knowles and Bernice Whiddon. The Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Eureka Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Dr. Ron Fousek. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Rites. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday. The family is at the residence.
