Jesse David "JD" Holcombe was a United States Navy veteran age 100 of Anderson, SC. He gained his heavenly wings on February 28, 2026. He passed peacefully at his home.
He was born February 12, 1926 in Greenwood, SC. He was the son of the late Jesse James Holcombe and Lessie Fuller Holcombe. He was happily married for 68 years to Mary Kathryn Stancil Holcombe until her death in 2015.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. Holcombe; one brother, Melvin Holcombe; four sisters, Dolly Mae Richardson, Tina V. Risner, Ruby Nell White and Geraldine Kay and one granddaughter, Heaven Leigh Homesley.
Jesse was the owner and operator of Holcombe's Appliance for 55 years. Then he was the owner operator of Holcombe's Used Cars for 22 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Verline S. Homesley (Dave) of Anderson, SC and Peggy Henderson of Meadville, MS; son, Donnie Holcombe (Joyce) of Iva, SC and sister, Shirley Brown (Layton) of Fairplay, SC; grandchildren, William Clinkscales (Sheila) of Meadville, MS, Renee Williams (Eddie) of Anderson, SC, David Williams (Nicole) of Powdersville, SC, David Homesley, Jr. (Dana) of Lexington, SC, Richie Holcombe of Iva, SC, Jonathan Holcombe (Elizabeth) of Virginia, Summer Homesley of NC, Amber Homesley of Easley, SC, Kenneth Holcombe of Anderson, SC and Kelly Holcombe of Anderson, SC; great-grandchildren, Reana and Gage Mitchell, Hunter and River Hall, Zach and Noah Holcombe, CJ Lilliard, Bryson Toller, Journey and Jackson Spivey, Will and Brittney Clinkscales, Kolten and Aiden Williams, Amber Brown, Leigha Holcombe, Rose Ledford, Sawyer Homesley, Sully Homesley, Vance Homesley, Andrew Lauri, Jackson Homesley, Emma Hull and Alana Hull. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 5-7pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Hilton officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery in Fair Play, SC.
