Jesse Marion Martin, Jr., age 97, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born January 10, 1925, in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Jesse Marion Martin, Sr. and Lottie Berryman Martin. He was married to the late Dorothy Ibera Martin. Jesse was a career military man retiring from the United States Navy after 24 years of service. He served during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked for ARA Vending. Jesse worked and drove until he was 90 years old as a driver for dealer trades at Piedmont Honda. Even at the end of his life, he checked on his friends at Piedmont Honda every day. Jesse loved spending time with his granddaughter Ariel and his special friend Flora Ann. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Martin Hall; sisters, Elsie Thornton and Connie Martin; grandchildren, Ariel Earle (Richie), Jackie Nuvy, Chris Martin, and Michelle Martin; and great grandchildren, Tayt Earle and Raleigh Earle. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Martin, Hazel Buchanan and Charlotte Blackman; brother, Cecil Martin; and special friend, Flora Ann Paterson. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, July 25, 2022, at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615.
