Jessie D. Buchanan, age 92, of Anderson passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home. Born on September 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Charlie C. Buchanan and Lucy Craft Buchanan. He was a World War II and Korean War Navy Veteran. He retired as a Navy Reserve Veteran. J.D. retired as bookkeeper at King Oil Company and later worked at Moorhead Oil Company, He was a lifelong member of Orrville Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He is survived by his sons, Jessie E. (Buck) Buchanan (Lynn) and Charles M. (Mack) Buchanan (Patti), all of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, J. Drew Buchanan (AnnaBell) of Rock Hill, SC, Jessica B. Buchanan of San Francisco, CA, Russell D. Buchanan and David M. Buchanan, both of Anderson, SC; great grandchildren, Preston W. Buchanan and C. Grace Buchanan of Rock Hill, SC; brother, Cecil D. Buchanan (Mildred), of Greenville, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Sue McElroy Buchanan; brothers, Clifton, Jack, Bill, and Doug Buchanan; and a baby sister, Mildred Buchanan. The Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Wendell Bannister officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Orrville Baptist Church, 2620 S. Main Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
