Jessie Mary Turner Norris, age 92, of Piedmont, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Southern Oaks Health and Rehab in Piedmont. Born on May 21, 1924, in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jesse J. Turner and the late Anne Weber Turner. For twenty-seven years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Samuel E. Norris, Jr. until his death in 1970. Survivors include three sons, Samuel E. Norris, III (Kitty) of Easley, SC, John G. Norris (Penny) of Columbia, SC, and James "Tony" Norris of Piedmont; two daughters, Annette N. Cowan (Charles) of Yacolt, WA, Rosemary E. Cameron (Scott) of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Elizabeth "Elsie" Holcombe of Anderson; twelve grandchildren, Eric S. Norris, Jennifer Hill, Theresa Tillotson, Charles Cowan, III, Christopher Cowan, Andrea McKimson, John Norris, Jr., David Cameron, Mary Parra, Joan Griffin, Joshua Griffin, and Eddie Black; also surviving are eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Sam, Mrs. Norris was preceded in death by four children, Joseph G. Norris, M. Kathleen Norris, Mary F. Page, and Joan E. Norris. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Jessie T. Norris will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Father Aubrey McNeil officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her sister, Elsie Holcombe, 2418 Pope Drive, Anderson, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8, 2016, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Jessie T.
