J.F. Gambrell, age 89, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Linley Park Rehabilitation and Health Center. Born in Cornelia, GA, on February 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Joe F. Gambrell and the late Ruth Mae Herring. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre. J.F. retired as a supervisor from Southern Bell after 33 years of service. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by his loving wife, Ernestine Victoria Richardson Gambrell; his sons, Gregory L. Gambrell and Scott Gambrell, both of Anderson, SC; two step-sons, Larry and Tommy Richardson, both of Anderson, SC; two step-daughters, Phyllis Kaiser, of Anderson, SC, and Karen Richardson, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Cheryl Lindsey, of Hendersonville, SC; two grandchildren, Holli and Matthew Gambrell; three great-grandchildren, Dayleigh, Nazaiah and Creidence Gambrell; and seven step-grandchildren, Tyler, Eric, Eden, Joey, Sumer, Eddie, and Regina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Gambrell; and a brother, Lester Gambrell. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Canaan Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jerry Parnell officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook with Military Honors. The family will be at the home of his son, Greg Gambrell, 1911 Linda Drive, Anderson, SC 29626 and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canaan Baptist Church, 1834 S.
