James Holliday, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at his home with his wife by his side. Born April 25, 1931 in Moundsville, WV, he was the son of the late Fredrick Peter Holliday and Elsie Virginia Goodrich Holliday. Jim was a 1949 graduate of Moundsville High School and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a water plant specialist having worked for General Motors for many years, Park Davis Corporation and finally retiring from Michelin with 17 years of service in the Anderson plant. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed golfing, bowling, and dancing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Mae Journey Veronis Holliday; children, Mary Ellen Neely (Billy) of Longs, SC, James Holliday (Elaine) of Albuquerque, NM, John Holliday (Sisie) of Wylie, TX, and David Holliday (Sharon) Anderson, SC, and Thomas Holliday (Jennifer) of Anderson, SC; step-children, Mary Lucas (Joseph) of Moundsville, WV, Michael Veronis (Connie) of Moundsville, WV, and Christina Williamson of Sunrise, FL; Charles William Holliday (Anita) of Taberas, FL, and Roger Holliday (Nancy) of Moundsville, WV; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary T. Holliday; daughter, Michelle Holliday; and grandson, Blake Holliday. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 23, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Father Philip S. Gillespie officiating. Social distancing will be observed and masks are required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1303 McLees Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 and St. Francis Xavier Church, 912 7th St., Moundsville, WV 26041.
