James Speight Ward, age 71, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Rainey Hospice House. He was born July 15, 1949 in Avon Park, FL, and was the son of the late Dr. Stuart Jones Ward and Martha Mauney Ward. Jim was a graduate of Lincolnton High School and continued his education at North Carolina State University where he earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering. He worked in IT at BASF retiring after over 30 years of faithful service to the company. Jim was an avid Harley Davidson rider and enjoyed geocaching. He attended St. George Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kay Wilkinson Ward; son, Michael Ward of Charleston, SC; daughter, Anna W. Tyas of Anderson, SC; brother, Dr. Michael Ward (Debbie) of Wilmington, NC; sister-in-law, Doris Ward of Ashboro, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Bill Ward. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
