Obituary

James Burnett Keown, age 75, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his residence. Born in the Grove Community of Starr, SC, he was the son of the late Myron Mitchell Keown and the late Eunice Perrin Keown. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 8 years during the Vietnam War. Jimmy retired from UPS after 22 years. He was an avid tractor enthusiast, restoring more than 40 tractors with the help of his sons. He was a member of Trinity Bible Church. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 49 years, Linda Rollins Keown; children, Darla Powell and her husband Wiley, Stephen Keown and his wife Laura, and Tim Keown and Kelley Spencer; his siblings, Herman Keown and his wife Sylvene, Talmadge Keown and his wife Shirley, Dorothy Hayes, Buddy Keown and his wife Barbra, Barbara Burroughs and her husband Rudy, Sue Carnes and her husband Gary, Linda Dorn and her husband Wilbur, Frankie Keown and his wife Sandra; brother-in-law, Louie McBride; ten grandchildren, Kayla Hanks and her husband Travis, Stephanie Hanks and her husband Stephen, Danielle Keown, Ellory Keown, Channing Spencer, Kale Brock, Kade Brock, Kayla Foster, Cameron Foster, Josh Powell, and an expected grandchild, Katherine Keown; four great-grandchildren, Powell, Barrett, Blakelee, and Bryant Hanks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred McBride; brother-in-law, Jack Hayes; nephews, Johnny Keown, and Keith Burroughs; and a niece, Tanya Dorn. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Darla Powell, 135 Lake Secession Road, Anderson, SC and will receive friends on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Iva. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Iva with Reverend Willett Vess, Reverend Tom Smith, Reverend Patrick Keown, and Reverend Jerry Gray officiating. Interment will follow the service at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery with Military Honors.
