Jimmy Lee McGarity, age 70, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born October 17, 1950 in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Lewis Lee McGarity and Roxie Ann Thurston McGarity. Jimmy Lee was a retired truck driver and former correctional officer. He is survived by his son, Boyd Lee McGarity of Anderson, SC; daughter, Sandra Lynn McGarity Turner of Oconee Co., SC; brother, Jerry McGarity of Iva, SC; and grandchildren, Sarah Moore (Sam), Theresa Redmond, Heather Redmond, Jacob Turner, Phoebe Turner, and Anna Marie Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Michelle McGarity; brothers, Gerald and Ronald McGarity; and sister, Marilyn Bishop. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Temple with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
