James Harrison "Jimmy" Stewart, age 93, of Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Dominion of Anderson. Born June 27, 1928, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late John Stewart and Nellie Williams Stewart. Jimmy graduated from Boys High, attended the University of South Carolina, and graduated from Anderson College. During his career he worked for the Osteen Theatre from 1942 until 1964, and at Gallant Belk from 1962 until 1993. He served on the Anderson City Council from 1962 until 1964 and was a Mason, a Hejaz Shriner and life member of the Hiram Lodge #68. Since the age of 19, he has been a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder and attended the Alice Brown Sunday School Class as well as the Wednesday Men's Bible Study. He is survived by Jim Stewart (Jennifer), Stephanie Stewart, James and Austin Walker, Mike Teasley (Anna), Blake Teasley (Page), Lisa Putnam, and Kyle Putnam (Clay). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Roxie Teasley Stewart, Ruth Wilder, and Mildred McGee. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the home of his son. Flowers will be accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 302 West Whitner St., Anderson, SC 29624.
