JIMBO TURNERApril 12, 1947 - July 4, 2009ANDERSON, SCJimmy Truman Turner, age 62, of 3220 Algonquin Avenue, husband of Carolyn Fulghum Turner of the home, went to be with the Lord after a courageous five-year battle with cancer on Saturday, July 4, 2009.Born in Anderson, SC, Mr. Turner was the son of Margaret Carroll Turner of Belton and the late Truman Turner. He was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He retired from Sateens of America and was a retired member of Anderson County Bass Masters.He is survived by his wife of the home, his mother, a son, Jimmy Turner and his wife Carla; a daughter, Debra Johnson Ballenger and her husband Jim; a sister, Sandra Henry and her husband Wayne, all of Anderson; three grandchildren, Blake and Cody Ballenger and Draisen Turner.In addition to his father, Mr. Turner was predeceased by his grandparents, Pearl and Wallace Carroll and Mamie and W.E. Turner.The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Varennes Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Turner will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm on Monday.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Varennes Heights Baptist Church, 411 Visage Drive, Anderson, SC 29624.The family will be at the residence.
