JOAN BOWEN ANDERSON, SC Sylvia Joan Bowen, age 67, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Americus, GA, on January 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William Burris Bryant and the late Nellie Louise Bass Bryant. She retired from Wamsutta after 25 years of service and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Dwayne Bryant; brothers, Larry, Allen, Carl and Pete Bryant; and sisters, Mary Bowen, Ruby Whitworth and Joyce Dale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Marie Bryant. The Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Kinard officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of her brother, Larry, 321 G.
