JOAN DOWD ANDERSON, SC Joan Marie Dowd, age 71, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late James William Walsh and the late Mary Adamo Walsh. Joan attended nursing school at Morris County College. She then worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey and North Carolina before retiring to South Carolina. She is survived by her children, Thomas J. Hastie and his wife Mary Caffrey, of Robbinsville, NJ and Raymond Hastie, of West Palm Beach, FL; two sisters, Elain Thieben, of Royal Palm Beach, FL and Diane Lopez, of Oakland, NJ; and three grandchildren, Joshua, TJ and Bobby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Steven Dowd. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ignatius E. Smith, OFM officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
