JOAN EVANS July 30, 1935 - November 26, 2006BEAUFORT, SCMrs. Joan Fortner Evans, age 71, of 2 Burlington Estates, Beaufort, SC, died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at her residence.Born in Anderson County, SC on July 30, 1935, Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Fate Fortner and Omie Barnwell Fortner. She was a retired partner and manager with H & R Block. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she received her twenty-five year pin. She was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Ann Davis and her husband, Dale of Anderson, SC; special friend, Ralph Fields of Beaufort, SC; step children, Barry Evans and Annette Simmons, both of Anderson, SC; brothers, Fate Fortner, Jr., and Wayne Fortner, both of Brunswick, GA, Pete Fortner of Raleigh, NC and Steve Fortner of La Place, LA; five grandchildren, Dawn Hayden, Misty Knox, Angel Simmons,David Evans and Jennifer Evans and five great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Fortner. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Sam Duncan.
