Joann Hembree Baxter, 82, of 803 South Manning Street, Anderson, SC wife of Ira Neil "Bobby" Baxter for 63 years passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at her home. Her service will be held at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2022. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm Monday. The service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Brent Lollis officiating. Joann was a homemaker and took care of her family and made sure all of their needs were provided for. She was a wonderful cook and was known for some of her cakes and her casseroles; especially her German Chocolate cake and sweet potato casserole. She was always a big part of her nephews and nieces lives. She babysat and watched over them and they loved her very much. She was a member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude P. Hembree; mother, Cora Bell Hembree; brothers, Billy Hembree, Jimmy Hembree and Charles Hembree. She is also survived by her two sons, Terry Baxter (Nancy) and Perry Baxter (Runda); special friend, Susan Bryant; grandchildren, Jeremy Baxter (Jessica), Chad Baxter (Katie), Nicholas Baxter, Shavonda Logan and Jerry Davis; great grandchildren, Evey Kate, Charlie and Graham; brother, Claude Hembree, Jr. (Kathy) and sister, Bonnie Sue Sutherland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 711 Glenn Street, Anderson, SC 29625.
