JoAnn Hanks Fortune, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at her home.

Born May 6, 1936, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Hanks and Alda Lecroy Hanks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Robert "Bobby" E. Fortune; daughter, Toni Fortune; and brothers, James "Jimmy" Hanks, Glenn Hanks, and Cecil Hanks, Jr.

Jo Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had an outgoing and friendly personality that touched many through her careers in cosmetology and sales. With a servant's heart, JoAnn would help anyone in need. She was a devout Christian and strong in her faith. She was a member of House of Prayer.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Allen and her husband James; granddaughter, Tonia Taylor; and great granddaughter, Anna-Claire Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Jerry Nation and Rev. Mike Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
