Joann Bostic Smith, age 83, of Iva, SC, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born September 10, 1940, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Leroy Bostic and Ruby Speed Bostic. She was married for 55 years to Charles E. "Tater" Smith until his death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Bostic, Carlton Bostic, and Billy Bostic; and sister, Betty Yeargin.

Joann loved children, helping to raise many of them through her work in daycare, and was affectionately called "Mama Joann". She was a faithful member of Rocky River Baptist Church and was involved in all aspects of her church including teaching Sunday School, cleaning, singing in the choir, and Vacation Bible School. She was a great cook and could make a mean biscuit. Joann was beautiful both inside and out and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Smith (Lori), Scotty Smith (Clorissa), and Russell Smith (Heather); daughters, Sharon Harvley (Mark) and Tammy Boggs (Donnie); brother, Raymond Bostic; sister Pat Hanks; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 12, 2024, from 1:00-2:30 pm at Rocky River Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Andy Boggs and Pastor Jerry Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rocky River Baptist Church or the Cancer Association of Anderson.

The family will be at their respective homes.
