Joanne Smith Clinkscales, widow of Harold Sebastain Clinkscales, Sr., passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born August 5, 1932, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Barnard Milton and Evelyn Gilham Smith. She spent most of her young life in Starr, SC. She was a graduate of Girl's High School in Anderson and attended Anderson College. Joanne was very active in Madison Baptist Church in Oconee County and also at her church Starr Baptist in Starr, SC, where she worked with the youth in Sunday School and the youth organizations as long as her health permitted. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Jean Aboualy and companion, Steve Hughes, of Piedmont, SC, Rosalyn Price and husband Lee, of Iva, SC, Suzanne Hendrix, and husband, John, of Starr, SC, and Angela Moore and husband Ronald, of Hartwell, GA; one son, Brian Clinkscales, and his wife, Jennifer of Iva, SC; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Swygert and her husband Herman, of Anderson, SC, and LeClair S. Welborn and her husband, Doug, of Columbia, SC; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Clinkscales. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Harold S. Clinkscales, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Ellen Bannister. The Funeral Service will be held at Starr Baptist Church on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tony Howell officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted.
