Joanne Orlando Lizza, 62, of Anderson, SC passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2016. Joanne was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania on October 24th, 1953. She attended high school at Geibel Catholic High in Connellsville, PA and received her undergraduate degree from Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Her entire adult life was devoted to children. She taught first grade for 15 years at Saint Joseph Catholic School in Anderson, SC and later became a volunteer at Centerville Elementary School in Anderson, SC. At Centerville she helped inspire and educate thousands of children through her tutoring program and through a Disability Awareness Day which she championed. Joanne could always be seen with a huge smile and was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family. She was also an avid supporter of the arts and was a regular at the local productions. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rita Orlando of Vanderbilt, PA. She is survived by her son; Jeremy Lizza (Allison) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Natalie and Elliott; son Justin Lizza of Greenville, SC; brother Larry Orlando (Marge) of Connellsville, PA, and brother Don Orlando (Joanie), of Latrobe, PA. Her memorial service will be held Saturday the 17th of September at 2 PM at Graceview Baptist Church, 120 Centerville Rd Anderson, SC 29625. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any charity benefiting children.
