JOE BILL McCLELLAN Joe Bill McClellan, age 86, of Anderson, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side. Born in Anderson on April 11, 1929, he was the son of the late George William and Grace Hancock McClellan. For 67 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara Bowen McClellan of the home. Mr. McClellan was a Graduate of Anderson Boys' High School, Class of 1946. He was employed for 53 years at the Anderson Independent-Daily Mail in various capacities. This was the only job he was to hold. A life-long Gamecock fan, he was an avid fisherman and loved going to the beach with his best girl, Barbara, the love of his life. Joe Bill was an excellent provider for his family and was loved and respected by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Joe Bill is survived by a son, Richard McClellan of Anderson; two daughters, Pamela M. Rainey of Anderson, and Allyson Sanders and her husband Brian of Anderson; a son-in-law Keith Scott and his wife Brenda of Anderson; a brother, Donald McClellan and his wife Sandra of Belton; a brother-in-law, Melvin Bowen and his wife Jane of Anderson; a sister-in-law Helen Rapella and husband Jim of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Brian Scott, Jon Michael Rainey, Brandon Rainey, Joshua Rainey, Courtney Gibson, Meredith Rainey, Douglas Friedel, Sam Sanders, and Ben Sanders; also surviving are ten great-grandchildren. Joe Bill also leaves behind his devoted pet dog, Emma. In addition to his parents, Mr. McClellan was preceded in death by a son, Russell Bowen McClellan; a daughter, Gina Scott; two grandsons, Christopher Scott and Travis Scott; one great-grandson, Hayden Rainey, and his step-mother, Nannie Hagan McClellan. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Joe Bill McClellan will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Johnny McKinney officiating.
