Joe Bee Harris of Easley, South Carolina, 76, loving husband of Ellen Moody Harris for 52 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, South Carolina. Born in Drift, Kentucky on June 23, 1941, Joe was the son of the late Windom A. Harris and Ollie Jane Boyd Harris. Joe served his country in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. In addition to his devoted wife Ellen, Joe is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Harris Cantrell (Daniel), son, Patrick Harris; sister, Mae Wicker; brother, Perry Sammons; nephew, Tommy Joe Slaven; several other loving nieces and nephews; six grandchildren, Nicole Dover (Scott), Jessica Sheppard (Seth), Emily Harris, Joshua Harris, Brandon Harris, and Noah Harris; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline Dover, Elijah Sheppard, and Isabella Sheppard. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Harris and Larry Sammons; and sisters, Magdalene Ferrell, Rose Mary Sammons, and Lucille Sammons. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter with Pastor Tony Edwards and Reverend Shannon McKee officiating.
