Joe Dennis Slater, age 91, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born December 26, 1933, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Joe Brown Slater and Mary Nell Chastain Slater. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Ann Gleason Slater; son, Michael Dennis Slater (Debra); brothers, Raymond and Kendall Slater; sister, Margie Foster; grandchild, Cody Michael Slater and great grandchild, Kyle Adams.

Dennis had served his country in the United States Army and later worked as an insurance agent until retirement. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church since 1963 and loved his church and church family. He was affectionately known as Sly. He was a family man who loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren so much. He was always tinkering with cars and building things. Dennis loved his garden, especially his 40-year-old lemon tree. He was a hard worker who took pride in caring for his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Fitzpatrick (Stacey); sister, Carrol Hayes; grandchildren, Randy Adams (Kim), Shay Norris (Randall), Seth Slater (Felicia); great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Adams, Michael Adams, Skyla Norris, Kaiden Norris, and Kallie Norris.

The graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Entombment will follow the service.
