Joe Kenneth Thomas, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on August 18, 1941, he was the son of the late John B. Thomas, Sr. and the late Mattie Lou Thomas. He was a 1959 graduate of Boy's High School. Joe retired from BellSouth as a service technician after many years of service. He was the former president of the Communication Workers of America Local 3702 for 35 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and hanging out with his furry companion, Patches. Joe was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte Ann Thomas; two daughters, Alison Brock and her husband Larry and April Martin, all of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Whitney Jackson and her husband Brent, Riley Brock and his wife Ashley, Rebecca Martin and Matthew Martin; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Luke Jackson; and two sisters: Jeanette Simpson and Carolyn McGavic both of Marietta, GA; and eight nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Thomas, Jr.; and a sister, Evelyn Jones. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with his nephew, Steve Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
