Joel Martin, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022. Born September 2, 1941, in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late John Campbell Martin and Betty Ann Tolbert Martin. Joel was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from BASF. He was an avid golfer and hobby farmer. He was a member of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church and attended Neals Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Rosa Lee Hofler Martin; sons, Jason Joel Martin and his wife, Susan and James Thomas Martin; brother, John Campbell, Jr.; and grandchildren, Jayce Thomas Martin and Jason Tyler Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Red Tolbert Martin. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 3:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Dorriety officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 pm. Mr. Martin's Pine Lake golfing buddies will serve as honorary pall bearers. A committal service with military honors will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neals Creek Baptist Church, 3204 Amity Rd. Ext., Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at the home.
