John Michael "Boompa" Chabek, Sr., age 70, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Cleveland, OH, on June 13, 1945, he was the son of the late Cal Chabek and the late Helen Corsey Chabek. He was the owner and operator of Chabco, and was a member of Andersonville Baptist Church. John enjoyed fishing, traveling, swimming and especially time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara Donald Chabek; a son, Scott Adams; a daughter, Tracy Dean and her husband Eddie; four grandchildren, Jerrett Taylor, Kaylan Adams, Taylor and Tyler Dean; two great-grandchildren, Jennah and Jaylene Taylor; four children from a previous marriage, Kim, John, Stephen, and Michael Chabek; five brothers and three sisters. The Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Bruce Evans officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service.
