John J. Csorey
John James Csorey, age 87, of 124 Londonberry Drive, Anderson, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. Born October 4, 1926, in Lakewood, OH, he was the son of the late Stephen Csorey and the late Mary Kekac Csorey.
Mr. Csorey proudly served his country in the US Navy, where he was a recipient of the Victory Medal and American Area Campaign Medal. He served aboard the USS Pocono. He was a tool and die maker for Custom Stamping, Inc., which was a family business. In 1973, the business was relocated to Anderson and on that occasion he moved to Anderson to remain with the family business, retiring in 2013 at the age of 86. Mr. Csorey was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was an avid supporter of the St. Joseph School. For many years, he served the church as a RCIA Sponsor for those becoming Catholic. He was also a prior member of the church Prayer Group.
Survivors include a sister, Theresa Kappa of Olmsted, OH and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Steve and Michael Csorey; and 5 sisters, Anna Schmid, Mary Tracy, Helen Chabek, Agnes Gerus, and Dorothy Hudak.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ignatius Smith and Brother Henry Fulmer officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held during the visitation.
The family suggests contributions in memory of Mr. Csorey may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School,1200 Cornelia Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
