John Melvin Dickson, age 92, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at his home.

Born June 22, 1931, in Seneca, SC, he was a son of the late John L. Dickson and Lillie McDonald Dickson. He was also preceded in death by his siblings; and granddaughter, Joanna Ward Jackson.

John was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an insurance agent with Liberty Life Insurance for over 23 years before retiring. He enjoyed doing yardwork for widows, gardening, and golfing. He was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church which he loved dearly. More than anything though, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Vaughn Dickson; son, Billy Dickson (Teresa); daughter, Elaine Ward (Bob); one grandchild and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2024, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Matthew Danuser officiating. Burial will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pope Drive Baptist Church, 2510 Pope Dr., Anderson, SC 29625.

The family will be at the home.
