Obituary

John Frederick Dryden, 73, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2017. He was the son of the late Forrest and Lois Deal Dryden. He was married to his best friend Charlene Dryden for 28 years. John was born July 8th, 1944. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He attended Virginia Tech University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a chemical engineer and construction manager until his retirement with BASF Corporation. John is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Dryden; his children Susan Whitson (Keir), Amy Johnston (Jeff), Cathy Trolian (Nick), Julie Forte, Rebecca Forte, Catherine Charping (Jon), Jennifer Forte; 17 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; brother, Bill Dryden (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his sister and brother- in- law, Ann and Irving "Buster" Conaway. The funeral service to honor and celebrate John's life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at McDougald Funeral Home. Interment will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7th from 6pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the America Red Cross Harvey Relief Fund, PO Box 37893, Boone, IA 50037-0839. The family will be at the residence.
