John Vorhis Eddy Anderson, SC John Vorhis Eddy, age 60, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on October 4, 1953 in Frenchburg, KY, the son of Reverend James Edwin Eddy, of Cincinnati, OH and the late Edith Margaretta Vorhis Eddy and the son-in-law of Harold and Betty Walker of Carlinville, IL. John was united in marriage to Mindy Walker on June 5, 1976 in Carlinville, IL. He is survived by his wife, Mindy, of Anderson, SC; a son, Dr. Jarod Eddy and his wife Sarah, of Lula, GA, and their children, Jessa, Mason, Cody and Austin; a daughter, Kim Eddy, of Williamston, SC, and her children, Alisa, Courtney, Raegan and Dalton; father, James Eddy; step-mother, Ann; three brothers, Steve (Connie) Eddy, Andy (Sherry) Eddy, and Paul (Barbara) Eddy; and many nieces and nephews. John was a paramedic for 15 years in Lincoln, IL and St. Louis, MO area. In 1992 he received his associate's degree in nursing from Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, IL (formerly Belleville Area College) . John has worked as a registered nurse for 22 years, eight of which he and Mindy spent traveling around the country doing contract work at hospitals in Arizonia, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio and Mississippi. He was an Emergency Room Nurse at Oconee Medical Center. John was a devoted family man who had a passion for cooking and also enjoyed woodworking, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, PGA Tour Charitable Contributions or to the family.
