He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Maddox. Mr. Gillespie retired from Builders' First Choice and was of the Holiness Faith.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shelby Barnes Gillespie; daughter, Angie Morgan and her husband, Roger of Starr; sons, James Gillespie and his wife, Renea of Belton and Jonathan Gillespie of Anderson; two grandsons, Dustin Morgan and his wife, Shannon and Michael Gillespie; one granddaughter, Braylin Gillespie; one great granddaughter, Caylee Morgan; sisters, Pauline Helms of Concord, NC, Fannie Love of Starr; Mable Ferderer, Priscilla Fowler, Bonnie Lowie and JoAnn Norwood, all of Anderson and Doris Eskew of Greenville.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Ollie Mae Gillespie, Ovaline Gilreath, Ruth Philyaw and Kathryn Philyaw; brothers, Glenn, Dupert, Bill, Charles, Derrell and James Gillespie.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Bob Philyaw and Reverend Justin Holder.
