February 2, 1913 - November 8, 2006COLUMBIAVILLE, MIMr. John Thomas Hinton, Sr., age 93, of Columbiaville, MI, formerly of Belton, SC, husband of the late Mayo Alice Goodwin Hinton, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Brian's House (Hospice) in Davison, MI.Born in Anderson, SC on February 2, 1913, Mr. Hinton was a son of the late Benjamin Daniel Hinton and Mary Jane Townsend Hinton. He was retired from the Ford Motor Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Anderson Area Republican Party and the Williamston Home Guards. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Yvonne Hinton Hughes and her husband, Harley Wiley 'Walley' Hughes; a son, Stephen Walter 'Steve' Hinton and his wife, Becky Hinton; daughter-in-law, Ellen Hinton; seven grandchildren, John T. Hinton III, Rodney Hinton, Russell Hinton, Pam Hinton Genobles, (Norma Hinton Lamm, Mother), Jimmy Hughes, Julie (Hughes) Viger, Stephanie R. (Hinton) Karr and nine great-grandchildren, Asheton Hinton, Alexis Hinton, Blake Genobles, Brooke Genobles, Whitney Hughes, Preston Hughes, Daniel Viger, Hannah Karr and Christopher Karr; step granddaughters, Missy Alexander and Shelly Walrath and step-great-grandchildren, Jake Alexander, Madison Walrath and Sydney Walrath. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Thomas Hinton, Jr.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 3:00 pm at West Pelzer Baptist Church officiated by the Reverends Frances Cobb and Randall Smith. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Anderson, SC. Serving as pallbearers are J. T., Rodney, and Russell Hinton, Jimmy Hughes, Regie Genobles and Chris Karr. His great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Escort. The family will receive friends at West Pelzer Baptist Church on Sunday from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The family will be at the home of his son, Steve Hinton, 205 McAlister Road, Williamston, SC.Flowers are optional.
