John Marshall Hobson, age 43, of Walhalla, SC, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Born May 16, 1982, in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of Marshall Sharpe Hobson and Margaret Elizabeth "Tibby" Laney Hobson.

John was a graduate of The Knox School Class of 2001 in Long Island, NY, and was employed with The Kent Oil Companies. He enjoyed many years in the Boy Scouts and earned the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. He was an avid tennis player and loved animals. He was a man who never met a stranger and genuinely enjoyed people. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Stephanie Leigh Durick (Steve) of Dobson, NC; nephews, Christian, Peyton, and Steven; niece, Alex; and his aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Mary Hobson and Leopold and Margaret Laney.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James S. Hobson, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
