Obituary

JOHN KELLY, JR. November 11, 1923 - August 5, 2012 John Kelly, Jr., age 88, died at his residence, Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home on Sunday, August 5, 2012. Born in McCormick, SC, he was the son of the late Franklin Kelly and the late Mattie Duncan Kelly. He was the devoted and loving husband of Mrs. Betty Stamps Kelly to whom he was married for over 68 years. Mr. Kelly was the owner of City Plumbing Company which he founded in the early 1960's. He was a certified Master Plumber. The hobby for which he is perhaps best known is restoring antique cars. A possession he was most proud of was his old 1915 Model-T Ford. Mr. Kelly was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. John proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army Air Corps. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Betty Stamps Kelly of Anderson, he is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra K. Taylor and her husband, Hoyt, of Anderson, and Susan K. Mayhew and her husband Ronald, of Isle of Palms, SC; also surviving are 5 grandsons, 3 great-grandsons, 2 great-grandaughters, and 6 nieces. A Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of John Kelly, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 2 PM at the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Joe Whisnant officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the close of the service. Memorials may be made to the Richard M.
