Mr. John Gregory Marianos, age 81, husband of Elizabeth Smith Marianos of 1642 Sandy Hollow, Anderson, SC, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at the Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Norman, OK on November 27, 1923, Mr. Marianos was a son of the late Gus Marianos and Mary Marianos. He was retired from the United States Post Office and was a United States Marine Corps World War II veteran having served in the South Pacific and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Elks Club and was a volunteer for the Special Olympics. He was an Episcopalian.Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Smith Marianos of the home; a brother, George Marianos of Greenville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Marianos.
