John Harold Newton, age 77, of Anderson, SC, went to be with his Heavenly Father and earthly parents John Wesley and Lola Kelly Newton on Monday, July 27, 2015 while at Rainey Hospice House. He was the loving and devoted husband to Jo Ann Gaines Newton for fifty-seven years and father of Wesley Newton (Katie), Rick Newton and Angela Kesler (Kyle). Born in Pickens County, SC on March 31, 1938, John graduated from D.W. Daniel High School, Clemson, SC. He was the founder of J.H. Newton Shoes of Anderson. John attended church at The River of Life. In addition to his wife and three children, those left to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, Nathan, Ben, Ian, Erica, Bree, and Zach Newton, and Lauren and Karlee Kesler, all of Anderson; one great-grandson, Hayden Newton, of Anderson; his cat, Missy; and two sisters, Sara James and her husband Tommy, of Mauldin, SC and Mildred Williamson and her husband Hugh, of Seneca, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Gene, Claude and Morris Newton; and a sister, Lois White. A Funeral Service in honor and to celebrate the life of John Newton will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Dyar, Reverend William French, and Reverend Kevin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
