John S. Powell, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on February 5, 1953, he was a son of Curtis Themar "Skull" Powell and Imogene H. "Gene" Powell. He retired from South Carolina Department of Transportation as a supervisor after 30 years of service. John was an avid sport's fan and loved track racing at Anderson Speedway. He is survived by his siblings, Steve Powell, Joe Powell and his wife Lynn, Pam Long and her husband David; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cooter Powell. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
