Powell, Jr., age 71, of 104 Candi Drive, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.Born in Anderson County, SC on June 1, 1935, Mr. Powell was a son of the late John M. Powell, Sr., and Frances Lucille Bannister Powell. He was retired from Michelin Tire Corporation and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Powell served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include a son, Billy Ray Powell of the home; daughter, Susan L. Davis of Anderson, SC; brothers, William Powell and Brady Powell, both of Anderson, SC; sisters, Ruth Carver and Judy Jackson, both of Piedmont, SC; grandson, Jared Davis and great-granddaughter, Lani Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, John H., and Howard O. Powell.The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Brad Shirley. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson with Military Honors provided by the Upstate Veteran Honor Guard.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, William and Doris Powell, 506 Lakeside Drive, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
