J. Hampton "Tootsie" Rainey Starr, SC John Hampton Rainey, of 2029 Rainey Road, passed away on June 3, 2014. Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Thomas Lester Rainey and Claudia Earle Rainey. He was a retired businessman and cattle farmer. He retired from Furniture Distributors, Inc. of Charlotte, NC where he held the position of Manager of Kimbrell's Inc. of Anderson and Belton, SC. He also served as Public Relations Representative for American Bedding Company of Gainsesville, GA. Hampton proudly served his country in the United States Calvary. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, serving as former usher, chairman, administrative board member and finance committee member. He was a member of the Marshall Fant Sunday School class, Anderson Lion's Club and former member of Anderson Sertoma Club. He was the former owner and operator of Triple "R" Farms of Starr, SC. He is survived by a son, Michael H. Rainey, of Starr, SC; four grandchildren, Jon-Michael and Janene Tucker Rainey, Brandon and Kellye Allen Rainey, Joshua and Heather Acevedo Rainey and Courtney and Jeremy Gibson; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Speares Rainey, a brother, Jim Rainey; four sisters, Mamie Rainey Hays, Katherine Rainey Drake, Mabel Rainey Gentry, and Betty Rainey Brown; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Rainey. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Don Batson officiating.
