USAF Retired, Major John H. Robinson, 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. Born October 19, 1935 in Gastonia, NC, he was the oldest son of the late Glenn A. Robinson Sr. and Gladys Broome Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Robert L. Pay, who died, while serving in the US Army, at Landstuhl Military Hospital in Germany. John served in the Unites States Air Force for 20 years. The last base was Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire in the Strategic Air Command, 509th Bomb Wing flying KC135s. During that assignment his Squadron was deployed overseas to Utapao, Thailand, Guam. Formosa. TDYs to Australia and Great Britain and many routine Alert duties in Alaska. Retired to the Clover area, where he joined FHS Supply Company, specializing in fuels for radio controlled model toys; boats, helicopters and planes which he loved to fly. John was Secretary or Treasurer for many years for the Charlotte Aero Modelers Club and then joined the York County Flyers Group and was always an AMA member ( Academy of Model Aeronautics Group). John joined his wife. Janet, in the love of their Pembroke Welsh Corgi show dogs and traveled extensively to show them all over the United States, Bermuda and Canada. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet Robinson of Clover, SC; brother Glenn A. Robinson Sr. and his wife Martha of Seabrook, Texas, sisters Linda Correll of Davidson, and Deborah Morse and her husband Drew and their 2 sons of Anderson, SC also survived by several nieces , nephews, great nieces and great nephews and one great, great niece.
