SmithMarch 3, 1924 - September 24, 2006ANDERSON, SCMr. John Bunyon Smith, 82, of Anderson, SC, died Sunday, September 24,2006, at Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born on March 3, 1924, in Georgia, he was a son of the late Roy J. and Mary Canup Smith. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters, his wife, Bessie C. Smith, and two step-sons. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Pensacola FL for over 30 yrs and retired from Escambia County Florida as Maintenance Supervisor. Mr. Smith was a United States Army veteran serving during WWII. Survivors include one son, Richard J. Smith, one daughter, Carolyn S. Durham, two step-sons, John Thomas Janes and Billy Joe Janes, two step-daughters, Mary Lou Jernigan and Merle Chavers, 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.Friends and family will be received Monday, September 25, 2006, at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at 3:00 pm at Tom's Creek Baptist Church, in Martin, Georgia officiated by Reverend Jack Sosby. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
