John Thompson, age 65, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. Born March 16, 1958, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Tommy Thompson and Dot Vernon Thompson. John loved his clothes, loved to travel, especially Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach, and loved to play putt-putt. He was a custodian for 20 years at High Praises Church where he was a faithful member. He is survived by his nieces, Courtney McCormick (Steven) and Casey Singleton; aunts, Glenda V. Welborn, Evelyn Whitworth, and Edna Thompson; uncle, Sam Thompson; one great nephew and one great niece; and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Singleton. Family and friends may pay their respects and sign the Guest Register on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at High Praises Church with Pastors Chris Sustar, Lane Sargent, and Grady Murphy officiating.
