John A. Verhunce, Jr. age 87 passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Born on March 25, 1929, in Cleveland, OH, Jack was the son of the late John A. Verhunce and the late Mary Ellen "Ella" Fox Verhunce. He retired as Vice-President of Sales from Canteen of Dixie. Jack enjoyed his home on the lake and being on the water of Lake Hartwell. He was an avid tennis player. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, John A. Verhunce, III of Reno, NV, Denise Jean Eisele and her husband David of Aiken, SC, and Mary Beth Verhunce and her husband Brian Newbury of Tujunga, CA; grandchildren, Teresa Marie Verhunce, Ryan Verhunce, Gretchen Opgenorth, Erin Eisele Alford, Brian Eisele and Jake Eisele; and one sister, Virginia Stilwell. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Humphrey and Lorrie Thomas, and on December 5, 2016, by his devoted wife of 67 years, Doris Verhunce. No services are scheduled at this time.
