Walker, age 81, formerly of Howard McGee Road and husband of the late Martha Owen Walker, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at NHC Health Care of Anderson.Born in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Oliver Paschal Walker and Garner Bart Walker. He retired from Abney Mills as purchasing manager, then becoming a security guard working for various companies. He served his country for 8 years when he joined the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church where he had served as deacon.Survivors include a son, Stephen Shirley; daughter, Miriam Reid; grandchildren Robert, Ashley, and Allison Burdette, and Abigail Reid; a special niece, Julia Garrett and her husband John.In addition of his parents and wife he was predeceased by a brother Richard Walker.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 25, 2009 at 11:00am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Evatt officiating.The family will be at their respective homes.A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visitingwww.mcdougaldfuneralhome.comThe McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
