John Wayne Yates, 57, of Starr , SC, loving and devoted husband and father, passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born May 23, 1962 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Alma Loggins Yates and the late Herbert Wayne Yates. John was a truck driver for Lollis Metals for over 16 years. He was a man of God who loved his family, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lesa Whitman Yates; mother, Alma Yates; sons, Jonathan Yates (Kathy) and Nicholas Smith (Katie); daughters, Tasha Kent and Teri Smith; brother, Herbert M. Yates (Jill); sister, Rosemary Yates; grandchildren, Parker, Addison, Brayden, Camdyn, Declan, Adalyn, Gracyn and Chloe; and his four legged friends, Buck and Sophie. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Constance Hope Yates. Family and friends may pay their respects between the hours of 10:00am-1:30pm Friday, April 24, 2020 at Faith Memorial Tabernacle. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mike Harrell and Rev. Nick Smith officiating. Due to the current COVID 19 guidelines, social distancing will be encouraged.
