OBITUARY PHOTOMRS. JOHNNIE H. WALKERMarch 25, 1918 - October 28, 2006ANDERSON, SCMrs. Johnnie Lee Hiott Walker, age 88, of 4829 Liberty Hwy, Anderson, SC, wife of the late E. Howard Walker, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the NHC Healthcare of Anderson.Born in Anderson County on March 25, 1918, Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late Benjamin E. Hiott and the late Elivia Void Elrod Hiott. She was Owner and Manager of Anderson Frozen Foods over 50 years along with being a loving, Godly and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She attended the School of Business at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Johnnie was instrumental in the formation of Altrusa of Anderson and served as its charter president. She was on the Board as a Director and was Parliamentarian. She was the recipient of the President's Award and the Service Woman of the Year Award several times. She was respected and held in high esteem on the District and International levels. She was District Parliamentarian for 14 District Governors and she was the Nominations Committee Chairperson. She attended every annual District Conference for 30 years. Johnnie chaired the International Bylaws, Resolution & Recommendations committee for 2 terms and served as the International Convention Arrangements Chairman and Elections Chairman. She was Anderson's delegate to every International Convention for 30 years and was nominated for the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award, Altrusa's highest honor. She was an active member of the Anderson Chapter of the Business & Professional Women's Club. She was a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians in SC. She was appointed to the Governors Committee for small business. She served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Haven of Rest, Salvation Army and the Anderson Boys and Girls Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was also a Sunday School Teacher.She was survived by her son David H. Walker and his wife Donna of Anderson; 9 grandchildren, DeRee W. Cavedo, H. Delane Walker, Denise W. Gambrell, Dana W. Gurley, Tom F. Martin, John P. Martin, Jason D. Walker, Caroline D. Walker, DeAngela M. Walker, and their families including fourteen great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Walker Martin.The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. James R.Thomason and Reverend James Blanding. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Walkers' grandsons will serve as pallbearers.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 30, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
