Campbell, age 85, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson. He was born in Greenville, SC, a son of the late Tyra M. and Winnie Couch Campbell. Mr. Campbell was married for 55 years to the late Emma Jean Wagner Campbell who died in 2000.Mr. Campbell was a 1943 graduate of Parker High School in Greenville, and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was retired from Anderson County where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.Survivors include 2 brothers, Stewart B. Campbell (Myrtle) of Anderson, and Robert B. Campbell (Joyce) of Piedmont, SC; a sister Carol Parton of Greer, SC. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.In addition to his parents and wife, John was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Kay Campbell; brothers Dacus, Conard and Ralph Pannell, and Edgar Campbell; sisters, Ethel Langford and Anna Burke.A Funeral Service honoring and celebrating the life of Mr. Campbell will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Batson and Rev. Dr. Lee Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective residences and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 PM ' 2:00 PM.
