Johnny Edward Motes, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late Edward Eugene Motes and Shirley Jean Payton Beck. He worked as a supervisor with Owens Corning Fiberglas and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Wheeler Motes; his children, Shawnika Hickey and her husband Phillip, Greg Brucke, Bo Brucke, and Tina Hughes; his mother; a brother, Tony Motes; a sister, Mary Dutton; a brother-in-law, Robert "Chig" Wheeler and his wife Sue; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Holmes; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Payton; paternal grandmother, Cecil Motes; and a sister-in-law, Frankie Wheeler. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
